Do you speak in tongues? I hope not
By Chris McCann
1 Corinthians 14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: Why would I hope you did not speak in tongues?
It is because tongues are a sign for them that believe not. That is, for the unbeliever.
God's elect people can immediately discern, upon hearing someone say that they speak in tongues or bring a gospel of speaking in tongues, that that person/ministry is not bringing the true gospel of the Bible.
In fact, their openness to tongues has simply served to open up themselves to the activities of Satan, who comes as an angel of light:
2 Corinthians 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
People who say God spoke to them in tongues, or gave them a dream, or a vision, sure sound holy.
But the truth is that God had nothing to do with their tongues (dreams, vision, etc.) experience.
If there was any supernatural element to it at all, it was Satan's activity and not God's.
