印度有个网站叫“Newslaundry”，这家网站的日常工作就是监督媒体。这种独立的media watchdogs，对于新闻自由尤其重要。比如Newslaundry历史上多次猛烈轰击印度版“观察者网”，OpIndia，大量散布阴谋论和谣言。 但是在没有新闻自由的中国，媒体“监视”权力掌握在党国手里，辟谣全由党国说了算，“观察者网”这种阴谋论和谣言大行其道的新闻媒体就更加肆无忌惮了。
